Posted by Serges LaRiviere on Fri, Oct 12, 2012

I think we can all relate to the hassle passwords are causing us. The worst thing you can do is have one password for all of your accounts because if someone figures out that one password, guess what, he can access all of your accounts from e-mails to your banking info. But many of us do just that because it's to hard to remember a dozen or more passwords. I guess you could write them down on a slip of paper and stick them in your wallet but what if your wallet get's stolen, oh oh! Well there is a better way, KeePass software will enable you to manage as many passwords as you want using a single master Key! Here's an easy step by step guide on how it's done.

Posted by Edward Drummond on Sat, Sep 22, 2012

Grand Theft Auto: Hong K– umm, Sleeping Dogs shows you all the joys and trials of organized crime with a beautiful backdrop of modern-day Hong Kong in a energetic, movielike look at the open-world 3rd person action-adventure genre. But how strong truly is its Kung-fu? Enter Wei Shen, an undercover police officer who is given the herculean task of infiltrating the Sun On Yee, one of China’s many organized crime families, or Triads. Wei is deep undercover (read as nearly in over his head), in an underworld where snitches and police are executed with impunity. Any mistake will end up with him floating face down in the island’s surrounding waters. His charade is a difficult one, but our Wei is driven by revenge, so his road into the depths of the Hong Kong criminal world is dark and twisted.

Free Flash Game Friday

Posted by Edward Drummond on Fri, Aug 24, 2012

If you are a child of the 70's or 80's, chances are at some point in your life you spent some time in school driving a covered wagon through the harsh wilderness.  By this I mean playing the "edutainment" game Oregon Trail.  The game is a highly-regarded example of early gaming, and for many of us it was our first introduction to video games. Game developer The Men Who Wear Many Hats have combined this classic game with a (un)healthy dose of the zombie plague to create The Organ Trail, a fantastic game set during the obviously inevtable zombie apocalypse.

Best Buy Announces Major Geek Squad Layoffs

Posted by Edward Drummond on Fri, Jul 06, 2012

In our recent post about techs in big box retail stores, "Not all PC techs are created equal", we spoke about how little the major retailers care about the abilities and range of service techs can provide.  Best Buy just announced they are culling the Geek Squad ranks to remove all service positions related to in-home audio-visual and appliance setups, totalling over 600 soon-to-be unemployed service techs.  What sets aside many store-bound service techs from the ones in the field is the field techs often are far more qualified as technicians, and are not only able to work directly in their own field, but be able to span multiple disciplines of technology.  Instead of directly repurposing these workers with multiple talents, they are removing the position and giving them severance pay.  During this years Super Bowl ads, they alluded that the stores would provide the best-trained and most innovative staff, but it would seem they are going against that idea altogether.

Posted by Edward Drummond on Sat, Jun 30, 2012

It used to be that shutting down a computer frequently would stress out the hardware and cause it to fail earlier.   W
ith the advances in power-saving technology as well as the quality of certain components over the last decade, that is no longer the case.  In fact, the longer a computer is kept powered on, especially with laptops and netbooks, the faster the computer will age and eventually fail.
